The first Stony Creek Rubber Duck Race was run Sunday on the Branford River, with almost 1,000 ducks dropped from a bridge on Indian Neck Ave at 3:15pm to raise awareness and funds for the nonprofit Orchard House Medical Adult Day Center in Branford.  Hosted by John Cadillac Saville with people watching from the road, on boats, and at the Stony Creek Brewery.

The annual Around Faulkner's Island race took place at 11:15am Sunday morning October 11th,  with both spinnaker and cruising class boats starting at the same time, approximately 200 yards South of Cow & Calf by R “34”, off Branford and rounding Faulkner’s Island and finishing back at the starting line, each boat taking their own time and reporting it. On September 24th at 11:30am a funeral procession for former NBPD Sergeant Christopher Manner passed  members of the North  Branford Fire Department and North Branford Police Department, first responders and members of the community paying tribute in front of the North Branford Police Department along Forrest Rd; from which he retired in 2011 after 25 years of service. Officer Kristen Fitzgerald rode in front of the hearse, in the funeral procession.

SAFER Branford(Students + Alumni for Equity and Racial Justice in Branford) Branford and CT Against Brutality hosted a March for Justice in  Branford in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, Sunday afternoon, the protestors met in front of Branford High School with a few speakers then  marched to the Branford Police Station and had a few more speakers.

A surprise drive by celebration of a beloved Branford Pediatrician Dr. Gary Wanerka who retired Tuesday from Branford Pediatrics and Allergy, which he founded in 1982. The surprise was pulled off by his family who told him that they were all going for ice cream at AshleyþÄôs.  Dr. Wanerka and family greet all the well wishers that drove by.

Branford High School held the first of two graduation ceremonies on June 15th with  80 graduates receiving diplomas in a drive-up commencement, the second one will take place on August 3rd. Hope Steen brought a friend along when they piked up their diploma. Superintendent of Schools Hamlet Hernandez stood on stage as  a safe distance as the graduates posed for a photo.

A vehicle parade for the Class of 2020 took place on  Monday night at 7pm around the high school parkinglot. Student decorated their cars and drove around the school to the cheers of their teachers and staff.

A Black Lives Matter (BLM) peaceful protest took place on the Branford Green Sunday afternoon at 1pm.  An estimated 1100 people took part in the event which included speeches, an eight minute and 46 second moment of silence, where people knelt, or laid prone on the ground, followed by a few more speakers then a march on the roads around the Green. Roberta Gill-Brooks asked people when they went home after the rally to set a timer for 8 minutes and 46 seconds and reflect on the time that George Floyd suffered until he died.

Branford High School Class of 2020 got a special delivery on Wednesday, when around 40 teachers, staff and members of the administration organized, and distributed 264 commemorative 2020 graduation signs to the students homes. Dean of Students Dianne Dadio gathered a stack of signs with BHS  Class of 2020 co-advisor Chris Stonier.
