Silver Circle Gallery is proud to announce the upcoming show “Panels” an exhibit of paintings by notable artist Donald E. Munson. The exhibit will showcase new works which are significant because as Munson states “these new paintings are the cohesive consolidation and integration of multiple aspects of my creative life.” The artist will also be showcasing a series known as “The Alphabet Project”. Pieces such as ‘X - Marks the Spot’ or ‘B - Bird of Paradise’ create visual images that provoke remembrances and utilize the type forms from fonts that he has created, becoming emotional evidence captured in a still frame.

A juried exhibition of artwork showcasing the best current work from students at Lyme Academy College is on display at the College’s Chauncey Stillman Gallery through Saturday, March 30.
This all-student show, illustrates the progression of skill and creativity from students in all four of the College’s major programs of Drawing, Painting, Illustration, and Sculpture, including student pieces from the first-year Foundation program. The majority of works are for sale. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Saturday. Entry to the exhibition is free and all are welcome.

Blanche Serban's “Signs of Spring” painting exhibition.
Blanche Serban is a Romanian-born American painter who combines elements of abstract expressionism with impressionism. Born in Bucharest, Romania, she studied painting at the School of Arts in Bucharest with Nicolae Iorga. After earning a B.A. and a License in psychotherapy from the University of Bucharest in 1996, she completed graduate studies in psychology at Syracuse University.Serban lives and paints in Storrs, Connecticut, and often summers in the south of France. Her works are in collections in the U.S., Romania, France, Germany, U.K., and South Korea, and she has shown often in one-person and group exhibitions in the U.S. & abroad. She is represented by Chabot Gallery, R.I.

Thurman P Banks, Jr. was born and raised in the coastal Connecticut town of Mystic. From an early age he felt both the pleasure and pain of life, leaving him to question the world around him. At the age of thirty-three, Thurman experienced a moment of awakening after the tragic death of his sister, that has forever changed his view of the universe, humanity, and of himself.

The Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library will host Lullaby Nights with Eleanor Robinson on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:15 PM in the Community Room. This free program will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013; Tuesday, February 5, 2013; and Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Miss Eleanor will sing lullabies and play stringed instruments for children ages birth to five and their families. She will provide percussive instruments for the families gathered.
