There are approximately 58 vehicle bridges currently spanning the Connecticut River and ten were chosen as representative examples for the Connecticut River Museum's 2013 exhibit 'Crossing the Connecticut: Bridges of the Connecticut River'. The exhibit features several different styles of bridge design and explores how people's ideas of what bridges should look like and how they reflect how their communities have changed over time. The exhibit features many objects and images from the Museum's collections as well as paintings, original toll signs, documents and other artifacts on loan from other institutions.
