More than 13 bands perform in simultaneous sessions under two tents, rain or shine. Bands include The Galvanized Jazz Band, The Heartbeat Dixieland Band, The Midiri Brothers, Dan Levinson's New Milennium All Stars, Jeff Barnhart on piano, Wolverine Jazz Band, Ben Mauger's Speakeasy 6, Bob Seeley, Riverboat Ramblers with John Banker, Sugarfoot Youth Jazz Band, Festival All Stars and Pierce Campbell's Funky Butt Jazz Band. The Hot Steamed Jazz Festival presents a free gospel service under the tent at the Essex Steam Train yards on Sunday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m. Worship to the sounds of hot New Orleans jazz from musicians and bands such as boogie-woogie pianist Bob Seeley, The Festival All-Star Band with Jeff Hughes, vocalist Jane Campedelli and child vocalist Jason Senn from Essex, CT.
Connecticut's own prodigious pianist Jeff Barnhart leads the service. A free will offering is requested, which goes to local charities.
