Recent East Haven mayoral candidate Steven “Big Steve” Tracey was arrested on drug charges in New Haven following a Feb. 7 police stop for motor vehicle violations that police said resulted in finding more than 200 oxycodone pills.
Tracey served a term on the Town Council representing District 4 from 2017 to 2019, when he received the Republican endorsement to run for mayor, a contest he lost to Democrat Joseph Carfora by 696 votes. He made his first run for elected office in 2016 when he narrowly lost to then-incumbent James Albis in the State Assembly District 99 race.
Tracey is a partner in DiAdamo-Tracey & Big Steve Bailbonds on Main Street as well as a former professional wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment. As a cofounder of Paradise Pro Alley Wrestling, also in East Haven, he has played a prominent role in hosting local charity events.
Oxycodone is a prescription narcotic opioid pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. It is considered highly addictive.
